KU Tuba/Euphonium Studio
For decades, the KU Tuba-Euphonium studio has held the reputation of being one of the top tuba and euphonium studios in the country. KU is a great place for the serious musician. Here is a brief guide through our program. In addition to lessons each week, students also participate in weekly studio classes. In these classes students both perform before their peers and receive instruction on a variety of topics concerning brass performance. This group has performed on many prestigious venues including the International Tuba-Euphonium Conference, the United States Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Conference, the National Music Educators Conference, and the Kansas Music Educator’s Workshop. Each music major in the tuba-euphonium studio works with Professor Watson a minimum of 3 and one-half hours per week.
Each fall there is the annual KU Fall Tuba-EuphoniumFEST, a festival of recitals and concerts featuring guest artists and KU students. Students perform on the annual “Grand Recital” that caps off the Tuba-EuphoniumFEST each year.

The result of all these activities is an education and training that is superior in both level and scope of training.
