Research Interests: The development and function of uni- and multi-sensory perceptual pattern recognition at cortical, computational, and behavioral levels of description, with special emphasis on the perception of spoken language. Cortical and behavioral effects of long-term sensory deprivation, with special emphasis on deafness. The measurement, analysis, and synthesis of optical speech signals.
