Meteorology and Climate Hub (MACH)

MACH is located in Room 405, Lindley Hall. It is the heart of the Atmospheric Science Program at KU, serving as a classroom for atmospheric science courses and a gathering place for atmospheric science students.

students using MACHThis center provides students with the instructional tools needed to develop “hands on” weather analysis and forecast skills using nationally available weather programs and data. Over a dozen computer terminals are available for in-class instruction and for student use in completing homework assignments. Internet access is available for acquiring current weather data, model forecasts, and a wide variety of other weather information. This allows faculty and students to follow the day-to-day changes in the weather across Kansas, the Great Plains and the nation.

Local weather data are collected as part of an ongoing cooperative effort with the National Weather Service. These data form a database of weather phenomena that are available for classroom and student projects.

Dr. McNulty and studentSeminars on specific meteorological topics and other weather related lectures are often conducted in MACH.
