21 Fun things to do in Lawrence on your 21st birthday

  1. Have your picture taken with the Jayhawks on Parade statues .
  2. Visit 21 of the 24 sculptures on campus.
  3. Grab lunch at the Underground and eat it in Woodyard Plaza. Don't know where Woodyard Plaza is? Click here.
  4. Go bowling at the Jaybowl in the Kansas Union.
  5. Climb the rock wall at the Ambler Student Fitness and Recreation Center.
  6. Visit one of the many galleries on campus.
  7. Visit 21 of the over 129 buildings on campus
  8. Have your picture taken by the stained glass flag at the Dole Institute of Politics.
  9. Visit the Sensory Garden on the grounds of the Baehr Audio-Reader Center on campus.
  10. See if you can find all the gargoyle-like carvings on Dyche Hall. There are 12 – that's 21 backwards.
  11. Have your picture taken with the original Beware of the Phog banner in The Jayhawk Walk in the Booth Family Hall of Athletics.
  12. Visit the original steam whistle that a signaled the end of class. It's on the first floor of the Kansas Union.
  13. Walk over to the Adams Alumni Center and have your picture taken with the Jayhawk outside the Center.
  14. If it's not a Monday, visit the Lawrence Humane Society and see the animals.
  15. Visit the Cultural Center at Haskell Indian Nations University.
  16. Ride the city bus (the T) around Lawrence. It's free!
  17. Both James Naismith and Phog Allen are buried in Lawrence: go pay them a visit. For the really adventurous, take the Historic Cemeteries of Lawrence tour .
  18. Go over to Foley Hall and look at the Monarch butterflies.
  19. Go stand on each of the Jayhawks in the Jayhawk Walk in the Kansas Union. Then, go visit all the Jayhawks in the Kansas Union.
  20. Swim in the Chi O fountain.
  21. Visit the back patio of JRP for one of the best views of the entire campus.
