Party Responsibly
Responsible Party Hosting
Hosting a party at your home requires some planning and consideration for your neighbors. Here are some tips for being a responsible party host.
- Pre-Party - Invite people you know. Have food as well as non-alcohol drinks. If you serve alcohol, obey the liquor laws — don't serve underage guests alcohol. Tell your neighbors you are having a party so they aren't surprised by all the cars, etc.
- During the party - Stay sober. Don't have an open bar. Don't let guests wander to the neighbors' yards.
- After the party - If there's litter, pick it up.
It is illegal in Lawrence to host social activities that allow
individuals under the age of 21 to possess or consume alcohol or cereal
malt beverages. Unlawfully hosting minors consuming alcoholic liquor
or cereal malt beverage is a misdemeanor, for which the minimum fine is
$1000.
