The Privacy Act of 1974, Title 5 U.S.C. § 552a, establishes a code of fair information practice that governs the collection, maintenance, use, and dissemination of personally identifiable information about individuals that is maintained in systems of records by federal agencies. A system of records is a group of records under the control of an agency from which information is retrieved by the name of the individual or by some identifier assigned to the individual. The Privacy Act prohibits the disclosure of information from a system of records absent the written consent of the subject individual, unless the disclosure is pursuant to one of twelve statutory exceptions. The Act also provides individuals with a means by which to seek access to and amendment of their records (Freedom of Information Act), and sets forth various agency record-keeping requirements.

Message from the Wing Commander
Welcome to the Flying Jayhawk Wing, AFROTC Detachment 280 at the University of Kansas. As a cadet in the Flying Jayhawk Wing you'll be afforded amazing opportunities to grow and develop mentally and physically. You'll not only develop the leadership skills needed for your entry into the world's greatest Air Force, but you'll have a rewarding college experience as well.
Once a week you'll have the opportunity to wear the uniform and train to become a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. You'll work out with your peers two or three times a week and have the opportunity to be a part of some great organizations, such as Arnold Air Society or Drill Team. There are also opportunities to participate in orientation flights, base visits, and other activities that will help you get a feel for the Air Force.
Soon, you'll find yourself leading other cadets in field exercises, working out at challenging physical training sessions, cheering on the Jayhawk basketball team, going to class, and hanging out with friends, all in the same week! You'll make friends that last a lifetime and be a part of some great KU traditions along the way. Being a part of the Flying Jayhawk Wing is exciting, challenging, fun, and it's well worth it!

There are usually plenty of cadets in our cadet lounge, and any of them would be more than willing to chat with you.
