Council
publishes diversity best practices book
The Council's
newest publication is intended to disseminate proven practices that schools
can use to improve the diversity of their student bodies and faculties
and the representation of diversity-related content in their curricula.
Diversity:
Best Practices
is divided into four main sections, covering best practices in curriculum
development, faculty recruitment and retention, student recruitment and
retention, and campus environment. It also covers the history of ACEJMC's
standard on diversity. A "Sources and Resources" section contains
syllabus excerpts and lists of texts, videotapes and websites that contributors
recommended.
The book
was produced with the support of a grant from the John S. and James L.
Knight Foundation, Miami. Researcher and editor Beverly Kees gathered
at least one suggestion from every ACEJMC-accredited school (to minimize
repetition, not all suggestions were included in the book).
Accredited
schools, ACEJMC's member organizations, members of the Accrediting Committee
and representatives to the Accrediting Council each will receive a free
copy of the book.
Individuals
and other organizations may request a free copy, and additional copies
may be ordered for $4 each by contacting:
