Visiting Max Kade Professors
During every spring semester combined financial support from the Max Kade Foundation and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences make it possible to invite distinguished European teachers and scholars of German to the Max Kade Center. This tradition began in 1965.

Vita

Studied German and Education/Pedagogy

1981: PhD (morphology and semanatics of verbal categories in the Southern German speech area), University of Lwow, Ukraine.

1981 - 1989: Lecturer in German at University of Omsk

1990 onwards: working on various projects at IDS, Mannheim (amongst other things, work on the project Linguistic Integration of Immigrants in Germany)

1998: Qualified as a professor in the Modern Languages Faculty at the University of HD and granted permission to teach German linguistics

1998 - 2000: Temporary post as C3 professor in Kiel, periods as guest lecturer in Salzburg, München, Budapest, Heidelberg und Mannheim

2000 onwards: coordination and management of the project Variation in spoken German at IDS

1995 - 1997: Universitätsprofessorin (befristet) an der Freien Universität Berlin

1997: Berufung auf eine Professur am Seminar für Deutsche Philologie der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen

seit 1.10.2004: Universitätsprofessorin am Institut für Deutsche und Niederländische Philologie der Freien Universität Berlin

Tätigkeiten als Gastprofessorin in Lawrence/Kansas (2001), Edmonton/Kanada (2001), Irvine/Kalifornien (2003/04).

Born in Kleve, Germany

1957-1963: Greek, Latin and German studies at the University of Göttingen and Tübingen.

1964-1990: Instructor and Professor at the University of Tübingen.

1990-2002: Professor at the University of Göttingen.

Visiting Professor at the University of Cincinnati; Hebrew University in Jerusalem; Monash University in Melbourne; Princeton University; and Cornell University.
