The Center of Latin American Studies is home to KU's interdisciplinary MA program in Latin American Studies, two graduate certificate programs (on Mexico & Central America, and Brazil), and the undergraduate major and minor in Latin American Studies. It is one of the very few centers in the country that offers training in more than one indigenous language (Kaqchikel Maya and Quichua), as well as Haitian Creole. The center also coordinates KU Language across the Curriculum (KULAC) courses, which are taught entirely in Spanish. KU's extensive library resources, including a variety of special collections and one of the country's three strongest holdings for Central America, support the research of students and faculty. There are many opportunities for foreign study through the Center and KU's Office of Study Abroad. Funding for foreign research and study is available to students on a competitive basis. Additional funding information is available in the graduate, undergraduate, and foreign study sections of this site. |
