Graduate Teaching Assistantships

The Classics Department at the University of Kansas offers several Graduate Teaching Assistantships. Graduate Teaching Assistants teach sections of beginning Latin, or assist in Classics 148 (our lecture course in Greek and Roman Mythology). Occasionally assistants also teach Greek or intermediate Latin. All Teaching Assistants receive faculty supervision and support.

Graduate Teaching Assistants pay no tuition, and they receive health benefits in addition to a stipend. The annual stipend is approximately $10,000. Additional scholarships and research positions are also available.

Deadline for Application: Flexible. We usually recruit new teaching assistants each winter and early spring (to start in the following fall), but we are sometimes able to add new positions on short notice (to start in August or in January).

Current Openings: We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2005.
To apply, please indicate your interest in a Graduate Teaching Assistantship in the cover letter that accompanies your application materials. Questions should be directed to Professor Anthony Corbeill, Graduate Director.

To request an application for admission to graduate study, please call the Department of Classics, (785)864-3153, or e-mail Professor Corbeill (corbeill@ku.edu) or Professor Pamela Gordon (pgordon@ku.edu).
